Received the Imprint recently and was impressed with the quality of the 3D printing and overall high build quality. If you're interested in a quality split keyboard - I'd highly recommend this. Before this I was using a Dactyl Manuform.
A few areas for improvement, not deal-breakers though.
- No homing keys (bump or deep dish), even though I realize some people don't find these important, I had to order them separately.
- It would be good if the bottom row options (2-key, 5-key, None) had photos.
Compared with the dactyl-manuform which I was using the 2-key option I chose aligns these keys with with the bottom of the outer columns - I'm still getting used to this and might have chosen differently had there been diagrams showing each configuration.
- Starting with RGB lighting off was a bit of a hassle with the QMK firmware.
been dealing with a lot of pain tying a lot as a software engineer. this keyboard has solve this issue! the most comfortable typing i have experienced. i love it. Erik has been amazing!
- It really is that comfortable
- The palm rests are really well designed, I've never used wrist/palm rests on any other keyboard, this is a first.
- Coming from an ergodox, the keywells make a noticeable difference, and it makes using all of your fingers natural. Even on the ergodox, I didn't utilize my pinkies like how I do on the Imprint.
I wish that the blank keycaps came with some homing bar nubs on some of the keys, it was a bit difficult to find the home row when I first got it and was learning the layout
I love it
Good day.
Before purchasing Cyboard Imprint I have used MoErgo Glove80 and Kinesis Advantage360. I'm using Imprint for about half a year and it beats both.
I am very pleased with:
- superb comfort, I am especially impressed with how easy it is to reach pinky columns (I've had issues with those on other keyboards) and functional keys.
- trackballs availability.
- hot-swappable switch sockets. No need to de-solder malfunctioning switches from fragile flexible PCB anymore.
- pleasant sound profile.
What could be improved in my opinion:
- palm rests are a bit narrow, I liked the wider ones on Glove80 and Advantage360.
- palm rest leather insert fell out during the first day of use. I have attached it back using 3M double-sided sticky tape, but for such an expensive product it is a bit disappointing.
- finding PBT DSA keycaps is a pain in the neck. And with double-shot PBT with transparent symbols - near impossible.
Overall I have a very positive impression of the product, there's no visible wear on the nylon case after half a year of use so I hope it will serve me for a long time.
